A LITTLE ABOUT ME

As you have figured out, I’m Scott. I have been working as a graphic designer, design manager, creative project manager, and/or art director since 2010, when I was hired for my first freelance project during my final year in college.

I’VE BEEN IN THE GRAPHIC DESIGN INDUSTRY FOR 11 YEARS

After I received my degree in Graphic Design, I got two part-time jobs - both graphic design - one for a broadcasting company and the other for a marketing company. Eventually, the marketing company brought me on full-time, where I worked as the lead designer for over six years until I was laid off. A few months later, my biggest client from that job offered me a job because they missed the quality and service I provided. I took their job offer, which moved my family and me from Eugene, Oregon, to the Denver metro area.

A year after I got hired by that company, I was laid off for financial reasons, so my family moved back to Eugene. I was hired as a graphic designer by Arcimoto. A little over a year later, I got promoted to Creative Project & Design Manager thanks to my organizational skills and passion for helping the creative team produce work they enjoy and helping them become more efficient in their work.

I FREELANCE

A few years into my job at the marketing company, I decided I wanted to push myself creatively and further my career in graphic design. I started by focusing on logo and branding design and sharing my work through social media and my website. Eventually, I revisited a style I had worked on during school I call Iconoflage (view here). This is a particular niche that grabs people’s attention and the freelance work I have been hired to do the most.

This style combines my interest in branding with my enjoyment of drawing. I get to tell a story through many little illustrations, creating a unique connection with the audience.

Needless to say, I am continuing to work on this along with illustrative branding design to provide a full visual identity package service that includes the logo(s), branding collateral, and Iconoflage designs as one massive project.

I HAVE A FAMILY

If I’m not working, I’m spending time with my family. My wife and I have been best friends since high school, and we got married in 2011 and now have an 8-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son.

I’M LOOKING FOR A JOB WHERE I CAN BE PART OF A TEAM WHO ENJOYS WORKING TOGETHER

My ultimate goal is to find a job where I can work as part of a creative team. I have experience working solo and as part of a team and guiding designers under me. While working on my own can produce work quickly, from my experience, I believe the best results come from multiple inputs, not just one.
